CCTV Cameras
IP, analog, and WiFi security cameras for indoor and outdoor monitoring. Use this guide to choose the right camera type, resolution, and features for your property.
CCTV cameras are the core of any security system. The right choice depends on how you plan to record, how far the cameras sit from the recorder, and whether you want a wired or wire-free setup. Cyberwatch Technology supplies cameras from Hikvision, Dahua, and Meari — covering three main camera technologies.
Choosing a camera technology
- IP (network) cameras — highest resolution and AI feature support; run over CAT6 with PoE. Best for new installs. See IP vs Analog.
- Analog cameras (Hikvision Turbo HD, Dahua HDCVI) — affordable, reuse existing coax cabling, up to 8MP. Ideal for upgrading older systems.
- WiFi smart cameras (Meari) — plug-and-play, app-based, no recorder needed; battery and 4G options for sites without power or WiFi.
What to check before buying
- Resolution: 2MP covers basic monitoring; 4MP–8MP gives sharper detail for faces and plates.
- Night vision: Hikvision ColorVu and Dahua Starlight capture usable detail in low light.
- AI detection: Hikvision AcuSense and Dahua WizSense filter false alerts by classifying humans and vehicles.
- Placement: choose weather-resistant outdoor housings for exposed locations.
